Plasma Plant

Time for another look at a species from Astronautical! Today's subject, the Sola-Ola.

The Sola-Ola are a very ancient species, due to their nomadic nature coupled with their environmental preference xeno-biologists cannot date the age of the species exactly but the species itself's recorded history dates back to over 15,000 standard years.

The Sola-Ola are the largest of all known sentient races, they are a space drifting species but unlike most space drifters they actually prefer to station themselves on celestial bodies, namely stars. Sola-Ola live on stars, their bodies are immensely resilient and heat-proof allowing them to dive to even near the cores of most stars. Their main source of nutrition is plasma, hence their penchance for star-homes. They can eat anything however, but if a Sola-Ola does not keep plasma in their diet then they no longer are able to produce the heat and flames that they use to keep themselves aloft and to thrust through space, if one is plasmanemiac they just collapse under their own weight and can't move. In modern times, 73 percent of all Sola-Ola live off of stars and on Alliance planets.

Stars are not just burning hot surface homes to them, the Sola-Ola are the first species to find ways to colonize and build on the 'surface' of stars, they use deposits of Invicibilium and other extremely heat-resistant metals from asteroids to build unmeltable buildings for business, residence, everything a species could need. Sola-Ola architecture is so great that any species could enter one and not break a sweat, the picture we see here today is of a Plasma Harvesting Plant on an star somewhere, you can see other species are inside the control and communications tower showcasing the fortitude of the buildings. The Sola-Ola are the primary dealer and processors of plasma to all species, plasma is used as a power source for many vehicles, weapons, and countless other things.

The Sola-Ola are based on the Ocean Sunfish, or the Mola-Mola.
