Metroid Fusion Tribute by BLARGEN69 Metroid Fusion Tribute by BLARGEN69
As you can see in my break I have spent a lot of time with my poor neglected tablet, I have done much traditional work but hardly anything worthy of uploading.
This is the first in a series I have wanted to make for years, essentially just a set of art pieces inspired by each Metroid game, in order of favoritism. First up, my favorite of the series; Fusion.

Metroid Fusion has always been a controversial title in terms of it's linearity, that's never bothered me though, and prefer it the game would have nowhere near the impact it has if it were open-ended like Super Metroid. I believe the main reason I love Fusion so much is because it's atmosphere is just perfect, the escalation of dread as you progress through the game is so perfect. The mission just becomes so hopeless and you actually feel it, though you get stronger throughout the game you simultaneously feel weaker and more defenseless as BSL itself seems like an all-encompassing maw. The plot twist with the Federation's secret Metroid program is awesome, the revelation that the SA-X has reproduced, I can't think of a single flaw in Fusion in my eyes. The spritework is the most gorgeous of any in the series and has so much uniqueness, no room seems to look the same even in massive sprawling themed sectors, BSL feels like a real station and you can totally expand it easily with your imagination, it's the most immersive Metroid for me even moreso than the openended freeroam type ones.

It's a classic I still play pretty much annually, and a game I will never tire of. I love Metroid Fusion to death, not just my favorite of the Metroid series but one of my most beloved games of all time.

For this piece I decided to start simple and do something pretty standard for me, but I intend to try experimenting with different techniques and art styles throughout the duration of this series. I wanted to capture the thrilling chase sequences as you are pursued by the SA-X, but I also wanted to draw my favorite sector, AQA, so I just threw the two together.

If you are curious the order of these will be as follows, up next is:
-Metroid Prime 2: Echoes
-Metroid Prime
-Metroid II: The Return of Samus
-Metroid: Zero Mission
-Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
-Super Metroid
-Metroid Prime Pinball
-Metroid: Other M
-Metroid Prime: Hunters

Same man, I'm glad lots of people felt the same, it's incredible how immersive Fusion really was, I've never ever played another 2D sidescroller with such an engrossing world and atmosphere and one that actually can, unnerve you,

Oh this brings back memories. I remember being so terrified to enter a room fearing evil samus was waiting for me.:-)

The times she freaking did would just leave you on the edge of your seat and scared out of your mind, it's so funny to me thinking that as a kid, Metroid Fusion witht he SA-X moments gave me more fear than most horror games I played then haha!
