Description

Perfection, Nevada; a quaint and small little town in the middle of nowhere, small is right with a population of 14, but that number sure don't stay the same throughout... Perfection turns... Unperfect real fast as mysterious creatures of mysterious origin begin feeding upon the local population. Eventually revealing itself fully, the creatures are none other than giant worms with three tentacle tongues ending in mouths of their own, they're big, at thirty feet long and very intelligent too, but they only live for one thing and that's EATING. The creatures (later referred to as Graboids) we learn hunt and detect prey by the vibrations we make when walking upon ground, this leads to really interesting set-ups and escape plans to avoid treading the ground or find means of tricking the otherwise blind Graboids, the citizens of Perfection find themselves on the buffet line for three Graboids with no means of contacting for help, and the nearest town being thirty miles away.... With the danged things holing everybody up on top of the roofs of the few buildings in Perfection, and preventing them from even so much as touching the ground to get away, they gotta band together and get creative if they wanna get out alive.

I honestly cannot imagine how many times I have watched Tremors growing up, I love this movie to pieces it is one of the best monster movies ever filmed and one of the funnest. It's got a great sense of humor and fun with everything, great and memorable characters, one of the coolest creature designs ever witht he added benefit of having some of the funnest concepts for a film, it's essentially like somebody made a monster movie out of The Floor is Lava! Tremors just rocks, and it's a movie I can never get enough of I probably at the least watch it twice a year, which is funny cause I don't even own it funnily  just always seem to catch it on tv, and anytime I do I stop what I'm doing and watch it for the umpteenth time. Tremors is also unique in being one of the few series that consistently stayed quality throughout it's sequels, as a franchise Tremors is pretty much perfect, each film tonally doesn't divert from the first and retains that innocent fun that the first one had and mixed in new ideas to keep them fresh. In Tremor 2:Aftershocks for example we see the Graboids in the first which were a nightmare enough were a mere larval stage as a slew of them mature into bipedal JP Velociraptor like creatures called Shriekers, and in Tremors 3: Back to Perfection another stage is revealed with the "Assblasters", flying forms of Graboids, not only do they clearly deviate from the underground menace of the Graboids for a fresh new take, but they don't operate on the vibrations-based-hunting mechanic and instead hunt through thermal vision causing all new fun set-ups and escape plans. And then lastly Tremors 4 is a prequel taking place in the wild west which was a fun way to finish the series and was a welcome deviation. Just a great set of films and frankly, out of EVERY movie I have drawn for this October so far I think I would reccomend Tremors before ANY other one thus far on the list, it's just a movie you have to love.

For this drawing I didn't know exactly what to do, I thought a Graboid just floating would look weird since, they are always under the ground, but I didn't want to draw one popping it's head out of the ground either, then I figured, heck, the character Burt is essentially a mascot of the series as much as the Graboids themselves! And I think he gets more screentime too given he's in the first three films haha! Riding a Graboid like a horse seems like something only Burt would do. This was a total blast to make and probably the one out of everythign so far I have had the most fun with. I love Graboids so SO much. The best monsters are always ones with animalistic behavior yet still are highly intelligent, like the Jurassic Park Velociraptors, it just makes for a really fun dynamic, I always just get so happy when Kevin Bacon realizes the final Graboid ain't gonna fall for the same tricks they killed the others with and is such a fast learner it is trying to trick THEM too, I just LOVE when movies do stuff like that!!! Monsters that learn!!! Like my favorite moment in Alien: Resurrection is when the Xeno in the cage gets sprayed with the liquid nitrogen for being unruly to a scientist behind glass and when it lashes out at him for revenge the scientist almost hits the button to attack it again, and it stops, it learned that fast. But why am I talking about Aliens hahahhaa, this is Tremors, and Graboids ain't aliens!!! Well maybe they are... They sure ain't local boys...

Does me making this mean all the movies I have done a drawing for this month now fall under Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon??
